LIVE UPDATE: Massive Fire Engulfs Chattogram EPZ Area — Building Collapses Amid Intense Flames

Chattogram, October 16, 2025 — A massive fire has broken out in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (EPZ) area, causing widespread panic as flames continue to spread through nearby buildings. According to Ekhon TV LIVE reports, parts of a multi-story factory building have already collapsed due to the intensity of the blaze.

Fire Service and Civil Defence officials confirmed that more than 10 fire-fighting units are currently on the scene, working tirelessly to bring the situation under control. Thick black smoke can be seen rising from several kilometers away, making it difficult for rescue workers to enter the affected buildings.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing several loud explosions shortly after the fire broke out, possibly caused by chemical or gas cylinders stored inside the facility. Locals and workers from nearby factories rushed to evacuate the area as authorities cordoned off the surrounding roads to prevent further casualties.

Officials from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Bangladesh Navy have joined the rescue operation to assist in controlling the fire and searching for any trapped individuals. Initial reports suggest that several workers have sustained injuries, and they have been rushed to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed, but investigators suspect it may have originated from an electrical short circuit or flammable materials inside the factory premises.

As of now, firefighters are battling relentlessly to contain the flames, while emergency teams continue to evacuate nearby structures. Authorities have urged people to stay away from the area to allow smooth rescue operations.

LIVE updates are being broadcast on Ekhon TV, showing the building’s partial collapse and ongoing rescue efforts.
